Outline
- Provides the opportunity of experiencing a sense of achievement when the vital responses are revived.
- KOKEN RESIM, an unrivalled, multifunctional, high - performance simulator for resuscitation practices.
- Provides trainees not only the educational experience of CPR procedures and techniques, but also the confidence to use them.

Conventional CPR training, including artificial respiration and cardiac massage has placed the emphasis on the learning of procedures because the functions of dolls have been limited. Trainees have not had the opportunity to learn the techniques to be used in response to a patient's condition, and cannot feel the satisfaction of resuscitation. KOKEN RESIM dramatically changes such training. It can reproduce various vital signs, and trainees can experience CPR up to the moment of resuscitation when such signs are recovered. This simulator allows specific and practical training because it offers practice of various initial conditions, it can evaluate the overall techniques of the trainees instantaneously, and it helps trainees to take their training seriously while giving them confidence so that they can unhesitatingly perform CPR. With this simulator, CPR education can be done in an efficient and reliable manner with extensive applications, including the improvement and maintenance of CPR techniques in emergency education organizations and the training of citizens in resuscitation techniques.
Characteristics of CPR training by KOKEN RESIM
- Vital responses, such as the opening of the eyes in response to a call, respiration, pulses, pupillary reflex, the sound of the heart beat , and blood pressure, can be observed as realistically as those of the human body.
- Difficulty level can be set according to the level of the trainees by changing initial conditions and technical level. Appropriate CPR will revive the vital responses of the simulator.
- KOKEN RESIM closely resembles the human body in appearance and touch. Since real vital responses can be observed when appropriate CPR measures have been taken*, it can enhance the awareness of the trainees.
- Since KOKEN RESIM can be used to evaluate the trainees and give them detailed advice, it makes them confident in using the techniques they acquire.
*The simulator’s microcomputer employs an algorithm that calculates vital response. This circulation and respiration system algorithm calculates blood pressure, tissue oxygen and carbon dioxide concentrations to determine the situation of the simulator.
Main improvements of the new RESIM
- Smaller and lighter control box
- Effective vocal responses
- Remote control keyboard with good handling
- Adjustable normal blood pressure
- Smoother airway clearing training
- Single connection cable
- Reduced pump noise
- Hand position adjustable to 2 difficulty levels
- Generation of rhythmical sounds (80, 90, 100 per minute)
Control box display

Training procedure and main functions
1.Confirmation of vital signs when condition is normal
- Confirmation of consciousness (by the eyes opening when called)
- Confirmation of spontaneous respiration (by abdominal movement)
- Confirmation of pulse (by palpating the common carotid and radial arteries)
- Pupillary reflex to light (by using a penlight)
- Confirmation of heart beat sound
- Blood pressure measurement using a mercurial aneroid manometer (palpation and pulmonary diagnosis blood pressure can be set at the user's discretion)
2.Setting of abnormal conditions
- Setting of the time after respiratory arrest
- Setting of the time after cardiac arrest
3.Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
The simulator cries, "Help!" at the start of training.
- Airway clearing and mouth-to-mouth respiration training
- Cardiac massage
- Blood pressure measurement by manometer
4.Guidance through display and warnings
- Amount of artificial respiration blowing (determination of appropriate amount )
- Failure to achieve proper sternal compression depth and hand position in cardiac massage (automatic warning in case of failure)
- Blood pressure and the presence of spontaneous pulse
5.Functions
Appropriate CPR will revive the simulator. When CPR is inappropriate, the simulator will not be revived. Delayed or intermittent CPR worsens the condition of the simulator and delays resuscitation.
6.Confirmation of resuscitation and vital signs
The simulator says, "Thank you!" when it is resuscitated, providing confirmation of vital signs.
7.Printing and evaluation of training results
A record of the training process can be printed out. This data can be used to evaluate trainees' technique and give them appropriate advice.
